Gympie Muster Bush Poets' Breakfasts 24th - 29th August 2010

.

MusterBeenBloodyGood  Poetry  Award

The National Country Music Muster once again plays host to the Bush Poets Breakfasts this year from August 24th – 29th.  The Poets attending are Marco Gliori, Bob Magor, Gary Fogarty, Peter Mace, Dave Proust, Murray Hartin, Ray Essery, Shirley Friend, Last year’s Musterbeenbloodygood Poetry Award winner Irish Joe Lynch, Col Driscoll, singers Kelly Fogarty and Darren Colston, plus Neil McArthur, Brad McLean and Bill Kearns.

Without doubt this is the biggest line-up of paid performers at any festival in the country. The Muster will host 6 x 2 hour breakfasts featuring Poets Brawls, Limerickathons, and heaps of spontaneous fun in what is a relaxed bush atmosphere in the Amamoor State Forest just minutes from Gympie.

The Musterbeenbloodygood Poetry Award will be contested again with $1000 prize money on offer and opportunities for campers to write, perform, and vie for prizes which include a free season ticket to next year’s muster.

To be eligible for this award you must be attending The Muster and must not have won the prize before. Enter your name at the Poets’ Breakfasts and there will be heats on Friday 27th and Sat 28th with a final on Sunday 29th. In the heats you say one poem and if you make the final you will have 10 minutes to entertain the judges and the crowd with your poetry and a little yarn spinning if applicable. This is not as formalized as for example ‘The Australian Bush Poetry Championships’ and the judges are heavily swayed by your ability to entertain and impress the audience. Last year’s winner Irish Joe won with a fantastic bracket that featured a deeply sentimental poem that captured the hearts of all who attended.
