Guy McLean, the man they call The Horseman from Susan River is an accomplished self taught and thinking horseman; furthermore, he is an Australian Bush Poetry Champion who is known for blending the distinctive crafts of horsemanship, whip cracking and bush poetry into a unique form of Australian entertainment.
For the last twelve years Guy has entertained crowds throughout Australia by leading them on a journey utilising his poetry, quick wit and remarkable horsemanship with his team of horses. Guy has performed at major events such as The Sydney Royal Easter Show, where in his night performances Guy entertained 24,000 people, in the Main Arena, over 14 days, performing Poetry in Motion, cantering his horse Nugget (bridleless and saddleless) while reciting and portraying a horseman's adventure or a poem which Guy wrote specially for the show.
Guy also performed at The Brisbane Ekka, Beef Australia, The Equitana Asia Pacific, Corryong Man From Snowy River Festival, as well as smaller events like the Goomeri Pumpkin Festival and the Pioneer Valley Show. Guy’s love of horses and desire to find better ways to build relationships with horses is reflected in his bush poetry and is highlighted in Guy’s poem The Horse's Slave.
