Max Merckenschlager

Max Merckenschlager in his late forties “returned” to writing poetry as a way to encourage creativity and fun with language by Arab children when he taught English in Yemen Republic during 1989-90. Recent successes include statuettes for poetry at Grenfell in 2005, 2006 and 2008, the inaugural Katherine Stockman award and the 2007 Bundaberg Bush Lantern award. His subjects are mainly drawn from Australian history and our natural environment. Read or listen to some of Max’s poetry and songs at his website.

Max would be happy to cut and post a spoken word CD of his poems and songs free of charge to anyone who wishes to make a personal donation to Medecins Sans Frontieres.
