The Australian Bush Poets Association Inc.

INTRODUCTION

In January 2000 a committee was formed at the Annual General Meeting of The Australian Bush Poets Association Inc. in Tamworth to draw up a set of guidelines for conducting Bush Poetry competitions.
At a special meeting this committee drafted a set of guidelines based on opinions and criticisms from all quarters, and a booklet was printed to assist interested organisations in conducting such competitions.
The ‘Guidelines for Bush Poetry Competitions’, as drawn up by this committee, were submitted and approved at the AGM in 2001.

The ‘Guidelines’ came under severe, but fair, criticism during the ensuing two years. Further positive input gained from experience and opinions and suggestions put forward by members of the association has seen the development of this book of ‘Rules for Australian Bush Poetry Competitions’.

This booklet was drafted by members of the Australian Bush Poets Association Inc. and approved at the annual General Meeting in Tamworth NSW on 25th January 2003.

Further revisions have periodically been added with this edition last updated at the AGM in January 2009 at Tamworth.
