Green Peas

A friend of mine has joined green peas;
He got offended at my mirth.
Join vegetables? – I had to tease;
He says green peas will save the Earth.

I have to say I hate green peas,
To eat them I was ne’er inclined.
My friend of course he disagrees -
He says green peas hate all mankind.
