My life. My love

Responding to Maureen & Zondrae's comments on Marty's poem, here is another very early one I wrote before I knew anything about metre etc. & yes I still bring my missus a cuppa every morning, except some Sundays when I try to have a 'lie in'.
My life. My love
The morning light breaks into our bedroom.
And I know you won’t be wakening to soon.
Seeing you lying there, so lovely and peaceful.
Perusing your sleeping body, oh! so beautiful.
I gently kiss you on the shoulder, I love you so much.
Running my hand down your arm, it’s so soft to touch.
Fingers now reaching your face so warm and wonderful.
Thinking of last night, you’re loving, so remarkable.
Feeling so soft, your hair running over my finger.
Your fast asleep, I’m thinking I can’t linger.
So I slide off the bed, not making a peep.
I love you so much; I leave you to your beauty sleep.
Walking to the kitchen, my drowsiness starting to abate.
Opening the cupboard, I grab a cup and plate.
I make some toast; spread marmalade for you to see.
Boil the kettle and pour your favorite cup of tea.
Placing all on a tray, I return to our room where you lay.
You’re still fast asleep, dreaming of somewhere far away.
The tray’s on the bedside, on your cheek I give a kiss.
You slowly open you’re eyes, softly saying, “What’s this”
“Nothing special my love”, the one I love so dear.
I am so happy it’s just you and me that are here.
I say, “I love you, this day and for the rest of our life”.
All this time, all these years, you my darling wife.
