Octopushoes

Post by Ron » Fri Jun 06, 2014 5:29 pm

Octopushoes.

Poor Mrs. Octopus was really in a fix
For it was back to school time and she was out of tricks,
Because! her Fifteen children had to have new shoes
And it wasn’t possible, to buy them shoes in Two’s!

For each one had to have, Four pair of shoes you see
And working out the sums, well she was all at sea!
For Four times Fifteen totalled Sixty! pair of shoes
And adding up the cost, she was on a cruise to lose!

But then she checked out sEa bay, and to her surprise
There was a truckload of shoes, to fit any size
Of three assorted colours, reds and greens and blues
So she thought I’ll bid and the kids can choose the hues!

Her winning bid of Fifty shells gave her a shock
So off she went to check them out down by the dock,
She wasn’t sure what they were, so wanted to peruse
For if they did not suit, she couldn’t …refuse the shoes!

Now could they be all joggers, please be not high-heels
Or gumboots or thongs, please be something that appeals
Not riding boots or sandals, ugg boots or hikers!
Or horse shoes or roller skates or boots worn by bikers!
Galoshes, clogs or moccasins or …ugly slippers!
But oh! her joy! when she saw …a truck load of …flippers!!

Love it Ron! It would make a good kids book - Octopusses in flippers - I can see the illustrations now. :)

Hi Heather and Bill
Glad that you enjoyed it and thanks for the encouraging comments, much appreciated.
My grandson (nearly 7) asked me to write a poem about an octopus and this was the result.

Just read it Ron and I agree with Heather's comment about an illustrated kid's book. Nice one.
