FEBRUARY HOMEWORK ...STIMULATED

Post by Maureen K Clifford » Sat Feb 04, 2023 8:31 am

I chose to write about the colour brown as in Coffee since my days start and end with it - and without it nothing gets done ...Nothing!!!

STIMULATED ... Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBarkPoet

The cream and brown swirls of the sweet cappuccino
cling onto the mug , with the chocolates sweet drift
of flavour, dark brown , rich and decadent - moreish
its scent tantalizes - I drink it down swift.

The caramel colour of sweet cappuccino
capped with grated chocolate caresses your tongue
with a bitter sweetness - it's the perfect balance
of fresh brewed espresso, steamed milk and frothed foam.

A milky moustache coats my top lip from slurping ...
my tongue surreptitiously creeps out to roam,
and lasciviously lick every drop from my lips and
I order another to go - to take home.

Oh how I delight in the taste of fresh coffee.
And who doesn't fancy a cup of fresh Jo.
That's why there are coffee shops seems on most corners
in cities worldwide where the commuters go.

The world seems is fuelled by the power of caffeine
and dollars change hands in a glittering display.
We whinge and we whine when the price of fuel surges,
but for daily coffee we're willing to pay

Does a lover's kiss give immeasurable pleasure?
Do sweet juicy strawberries our cravings end?
The closest to caffeine is its neighbour chocolate
who also stirs cravings that most comprehend.

Coffee is addictive, likewise love and chocolate
and heroin - they trap and capture - befriend.
I've no shortage of want power - no won't power - just weakness.
An imperfect person with no urge to defend.

Well, you've certainly painted a creamy and delicious picture here, Maureen. I'm a tea girl myself, but I do enjoy the occasional coffee - and will now think of you when I have my next one! :D

Hi Maureen

You certainly make me wish I was a coffee addict as well.
Unfortunately, I'm allergic to it so can only have the odd one.
But love the aroma.
But I'll gladly give you a hand with the chocolates.

Good one Maureen,
The poem flows so well, just like the coffee going down :D
Because of my pacemaker, my heart man has limited me to one cup of black coffee a day, so I make it a strong one, and I think the aroma is all part of the enjoyment!
But I have worked with blokes who would physically get the shakes until they got their caffeine fix!
Well done.
Cheers
Ron.

Thank you Ron and Terry for taking the time to read and comment, and glad that my words resonated with you both  When I was pregnant - over 50 years ago now - the smell of coffee made me puke - I couldn't stand it and it took many years to get over that, but now  I am a definite coffee addict - probably one of the few pleasures left to me that I can afford  So I admit to putting my hand up every time when the coffee pot comes around.

Oh, very good, Maureen! I can almost taste the coffee! It actually always amazes me how the coffee culture has taken off and the enormous variety on offer. I only have one per morning - occasionally two, but never any after 12:00 noon (although it's 3pm here now and I must say your descriptions are bringing temptation!)
These two lines are very true here too, because I've often been astounded by how much the Thais are willing to spend on their coffee - even if they can have it for free at work and are on a minimum wage, they prefer to head to the copious outlets around, to buy it!:

but for daily coffee we're willing to pay
