homework week ending 26/09 Ivanhoe

Post by Wendy Seddon » Mon Sep 26, 2011 12:10 pm

Whew! just made it!

Now, Ivan Hoe from Ivanhoe in outback New South Wales
is not aware of Walter Scott’s old medieval tales.
His namesake, chivalrous and brave, a friend of Robin Hood,
had stood for honesty and truth and everything that’s good.

Their Christian name the only thing in common with these two,
you see our boy is cunning, sly and out to swindle you.
He’d sell his grandma so they say, sell anything that pays,
he thumbs his nose at all of those old noble Saxon ways.

But if a way could just be found to take him back in time,
he’d find another way of life to this his life of crime.
He wouldn’t dare to go against the likes of Ivanhoe,
the one who roamed the pages of that book so long ago.

‘Cause Prince John tried and was denied the spoils of his lust
and in the end he had no friend or person he could trust.
If you’ve a lad who’s going bad, your hope is turned to woe,
then sit him down to read the screed of gallant Ivanhoe.
