So here it is.....

So here it is.....
 Zondrae King (Corrimal) 12/11

Now Maureen’s been giving us fodder for pens
and enough of her own poems to wallpaper dens
so lets all get busy before this weeks end
and write her a poem and then quickly press ‘send’.

I haven’t begun yet to buy Christmas cheer
and I’m late with my shopping the same as last year.
I’m lucky I don’t have a mate who loves grog
I haven’t bought wine or beer or eggnog.

But the tree is now standing and dressed up just right
and the lights on the patio are the highlight
of a walk down the street. All the neighbours admire
the three ropes of colour and white ones up higher.

But neary a present is yet to be seen
and I have no idea what you buy for a teen.
And as for my hubbie, I haven’t a clue
and the weather’s turned cold as if it’s on cue.

But lunch has been sorted – about who brings what
and we know where to gather, we’ve chosen the spot.
So before I forget or before others do
I’ll jump in right now- Merry Christmas to you.

   Good on you Zondrae - you've got the important things covered the food and the company and someone is sure to turn up with a carton of beer fear not.

Cheers

Good one Zondrae.
Very good.

Since this is a workshop, I'll be picky..line one of stanza 4, did you mean " nary " ;)

I know what you mean about buying for teens, I just give them a gift voucher. I thought that was a bit lacking in style but I found out they preferred those things. :)
