You've succeeded in a hard life Terry. I could never have done it, I'm no gambler I've visited Lightening Ridge, it looked hard, a bit like the old frontier towns. And I think those opal mining places can be a bit of a law unto themselves.

It was not the life some would choose or even dream about living Neville,
and in those days was a much different place to what it is today.
You are right too in saying it was a hard life and as you again say it was a real frontier type town back in the sixties.
But once you got over the initial shock and became accepted it wasn't a bad life - I'm glad I had the experience.
Still, there are some wild stories I could tell about those days as well.
Most of my life has been a gamble - not the betting type - but none the less as a risk taker.
Like all things in Australia today, Coober Pedy is not the place it used to be.
