We Weep.

Bold blue on yellow, a proud nation’s sovereign flag
Lamentably now stained with patriotic blood
Of people who’ll defend to the last body bag
When suddenly thrust into modes of warring scud!
There perpetrated by a despot, of the dark ages
Where secret police ruled with persecution fist!
That could be taken straight from Hitler’s evil pages
So we weep for Ukraine in war that shouldn’t exist!

He sits at tables of a length ridiculous
A callous cold hearted killer, in void of trust
With his security always planned meticulous
In case cold steel, through his immoral heart is thrust!
For paranoia in such psyche certainly shows
When harsh intimidation is the tyrants rule,
And from all the free world the opposition grows
As we weep for Ukraine, in these doleful days cruel!

The youth of his own land, he sends to latent death,
Just proverbial numbers in his evil game,
And matters not to a child killer with poison breath
As Russian or Ukrainian will die just the same!
So many throughout Russia who want peace not war
Are silenced by arrest and propagandas scourge
So hope of his demise that, by groundswell could soar
There bringing on his exit by undaunted purge!

Though easier said than done, to share of their pain,
But our hearts are bleeding …for the blood of Ukraine!

You have described it well and pulled no punches, regarding the daily horror that we see.
We can only hope that the Russian people take matters into their own hands,
not easy though with all of his own personal security.
Your last line said it all for me -'But our hearts are bleeding ... for the blood of Ukraine'.

Straight to the heart of it, Ron, and yes, so many similarities so tyrants of the past. One cold decision that has devastated so many lives - and for what? Not to mention the ripples all around the world and the worrying uncertainty of what he might do next. You have put it well, and like Terry, I love that last line.

Yes when you think of tyrants like Hitler, Stalin and now Putin, you certainly wonder about their sanity and how they got to be in
positions of such power!
And it certainly is a concern as to what way he might turn!

Oh wow! You nailed it Ron with no punches pulled and neither there should be, history just repeats itself time and time again and like many others I ask 'Why?'

Are we inherently stupid? How can one man (Putin, Hitler, Pol Pot etc) inflict so much suffering and misery and yet not be stopped by his own rational (one hopes they are) counterparts who stand alongside them every day???????

We weep indeed - the world weeps, and yet there he stands. I got a boot up the bum from FB and was banned for saying that surely to goodness, there would be one good marksman out there with a target firmly hovering over Putin's chest - a good man or woman who would not be afraid to do what was needed to save the rest of their countrymen and indeed perhaps the whole world from insane tyrants such as this. I stand by it.

nas never held so much veracity as it does today, when a man like this is prepared to even attack a nuclear facility to achieve his own aims.

Thanks so much Maureen, and I totally agree with all of your comments. However I think that it is FB that needs the kick in the bum for making any sort of defence for that mongrel! There are many people that can't look at a photo of him without seeing the ''cross hairs'' on his forehead.
Let's hope that there are some ''good men" that do something in the not too distant future!
