Homework

Post by alongtimegone » Wed Jan 17, 2024 10:30 am

Hi all I notice there's been no homework since October. I've just rejoined and checked out the page. Hoping all is well with Maureen.

Hi Ron & Wazza

In the past there has often been a period of when we seem to shut down for a while over the Christmas new year period.
Hopefully all's well and we will start up again before long.

Meanwhile though no reason why you can't write an imagined homework poem, let's say about your hopes for 2024 for instance,
or of a high or low light from last year - Just a thought.
Or if anyone had an idea for a poem we could write, tell us about it.

Cheers

Terry

Good on you Terry and Happy Australia Day. I'll have to put my thinking cap on and have a crack at one of those prompts.
As stated in times gone by, here is the only time I seem to get write poems, seems I need a prompt of sorts to get me going.
In fact I'd often think of Maureen as my 'muse catalyst' (that being a term of endearment of course :D )
Also not being on FB. I guess means missing out on a lot of the banter in the poetry world.
Cheers
Ron.

HI EVERYONE .... I'M BACK

So sorry for my unexplained absence ... I lost my son very unexpectedly in November and I have been struggling a bit.

Hi Maureen only just looked again at this post and I'm so so sorry to read that awful news. Of course you would be struggling and I'm sorry that it was my post that opened the question about your absence. I missed the inclusion of my poem on the fb page but thanks anyway for including it.

Hi Wazza - No worries and I appreciated your concern :D Every day gets a little easier until something crops up to poke you in the eye. It's Davids birthday soon on the 28th March, and we were planning on launching him from a mate's boat to give his ashes a Viking send off - complete with flaming arrows courtesy of hus uncle and his BIL who are both medieval reinactors, but we realised it was Easter and they would both be away at a gathering in NSW over the Easter weekend, so we are now considering another date.

Christmas Eve saw me write this for him ....

For my boy .... Love Mum xxxx

Life is a journey … Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBarkPoet

I am still here – I do not weep – I think of you as just asleep
And why should I stay mired in gloom when you’re just in another room.
My eyes it’s true can’t see your face for you are in another space
But even though you’re far away – you always in my heart will stay.

I feel your presence often – near, it comforts me, causes no fear
And though we journey different paths
I know they’ll cross again once more.
Somewhere, someday, sometime I know –
I’ll hold you on a different shore.
And once more kiss your beloved face
Whilst holding you in sweet embrace
Life is a journey – not a race …
there is still more to come.

24.12.2023

Thank you everyone for your caring and concern.

Cheers,

Maureen

That's beautiful Maureen. It brought on tears. I don't think I could be as brave under the same circumstances.
