ARTHRITICALLY YOURS …. Maureen Clifford © The #ScribblyBarkPoet

I don’t fall under winters spell
nor handle the cold at all well
In fact the home in which I dwell
is freezing, bloody freezing.

I’m over wind and rain and squalls
I don’t handle the cold at all
I am not held in winter’s thrall…
and now my roof is leaking.

I long for picnics in the park
with crisp clear days, hearing the bark
of dogs at play – they run and – hark
I hear a magpie calling.

Endless blue skies and warming rays
to me bring joy into my days
I harmonize with nature – Grey
skies gone, the sun so warming.

My misty morning memories
of frosted glass and remedies
for coughs and colds and allergies
are all less than enthralling.

I don’t fall under winters spell
Thank God it’s short in Queensland – well
compared to the North Pole et al.
Summer stops my joints creaking.

Hi Maureen,
Good one, and once again, don't we appreciate the seasons! :D
A nice whimsical ride through Winter poem, with better days to come! ;)
Well done,
Ron

G/day Maureen
0.1 here this morning and like you it plays havoc with my arthritic Joints - roll on spring.
You could well have been writing about my winter hates as well.
But you still managed to squeeze in a little wry Aussie humor.
Who said we're whingers.

Terry

Thank you Ron and Terry - appreciate you comments and glad it is just not me. I try hard to not whinge too much but winter - bugger me - everything hurts then so the whinges ramp up a bit. Still ....I guess it beats the alternative so nothing to whinge about in real terms eh????

Another good one to bring it to life, Maureen. Makes me feel cold reading it!
