Don't worry about who's got the money because we'll all end up owning the same thing..six feet of dirt.
I would like to be like the old chinese artist who after a lifetime of painting ,at 99 years of age ( I haven't got long to go
) realizing that he was dying put down his brushes and said " What a pity, I am just starting to get the idea of it "

I get it....
1. you find an old tattered (almost rotting away) dictionary.
2. you put these moth eaten remnants in a shredder.
3. you pick up the pieces and paste them together (in random order)
4. you give it an unassociated title ----- and presto... you have a contemporary poem.
Now I know there are genuine writers ( eg our own Champion, David Campbell and Maureen Clifford) out there who can produce coherent non-rhyming poems but surely educated people can tell the difference between utter rot and poetry.
The first, simple criteria I thought of is; if you have to have it explained to you, it can't be very good.

Unless you wrote it - and then it probably has some great meaning. Once again, each to their own. You don't have to like everything that was ever written....

Yes indeed Zondrae, yes. Though we should bear in mind that an accusation of ignorance is a two edged sword, cuts both ways.zondrae wrote:but surely educated people can tell the difference between utter rot and poetry

Some Vogon poetry ...keats wrote:It reminds me a little of the wonderfully constructed poetry of the Vogons.
See, see the dimpled sky
Marvel at its glowing black-brown depths.
Tell me, Neil do you
Wonder why the lumpfish ignores you?
Why its foobly stare
makes you feel blurry.
I can tell you, it is
Worried by your chordwangle facial growth
That looks like
A feral mould.
What's more, it knows
your futtocks potting shed
Smells of echidna droppings.
Everything under the big dimpled sky
Asks why, why do you even bother?
You can only charm the armpits of an old cameleer.
