this is but a part of this poem but I wish to know WHO WROTE IT for this poem carries more feeling in it than many others I have read

Daddy' Poem

Her hair was up in a pony tail,
Her favorite dress tied with a bow.
Today was Daddy's Day at school,
And she couldn't wait to go.

But her mummy tried to tell her,
That she probably should stay home.
Why the kids might not understand,
If she went to school alone.

But she was not afraid;
She knew just what to say.
What to tell her classmates
Of why he wasn't there today.

I did some research on this poem Bill. It appears that this is one of those poems that has been hi-jacked by various people and the title changed and words added to suit.

The poem was originally called Daddy's Day.and the provenance of the author being Cheryl Costello-Forshey seems to be established.

It is doing the rounds as Daddy's Poem.

In the original, the girl simply says that Daddy is "always in her heart".
the various pirated versions give Daddy as ..
1. A Fireman killed at 9/11,
2. An American Marine blown up by a roadside bomb,
3. a policeman killed at 9/11,
4. a British soldier killed by a roadside bomb.
etc etc.
So some people have shamelessly lifted this poem, altered it, and passed it around as some sort of inspirational message created by them. Pity they weren't inspired to be honest.
