Big Day in The Old Town

Post by Bob Pacey » Sat Jun 04, 2011 9:07 pm

Big day tomorrow in Rockhampton. The annual Multicultural Fair Hundreds of stalls and five stages in operation. Scored five slots on the main stage so will set up a table with all the ABPA gear in between you just never know.

Ps gave a talk today at the local writers gruop monthly function. May not have converted any but raised a few eyebrows.

Cheers Bob

That's was a good opportunity Bob, taking to the local writers group.

I too would be fascinated to know the details of the eyebrow raising moments

By the way, I saw your comment about mad dogs in the Newcastle RL team. :? if only they did have some mad dogs they might win a match :o

Was a great afternoon really several of the writers had written a piece about a local character where they had to let the words convey the characters image. Some were quite good I will admit. They showed a film about the gemfields that one of the members had a grant to produce ( all agreed it was a bit boring) but clapped polietly. I think I might have even dozed off at one stage.

Then the main performance Bob Pacey our famous local bush poet. !!!!!

Did two poems the one about the dunny blowing up The Outhouse and the Shearers Cook both which I have posted on the site. I really do not think some of them had seen performance poetry as there were a few wide eyes. But they all got the punch lines and one of the judges for their comp said see that's what I mean about painting a picture with your words.

They now want to have a writing workshop on bush poetry eg how to write and compile the story so might make a few inroads there. Just might have to get Kymmie involved in that one.

Oh a couple of them actually said Bastard and Wanker in their presentations shock horror.

All in All a good afternoon.
