Margy - oh you're a sweetie. I'll hopefully see you on Oct 2. It'll be great to catch up. I can't wait to see your new hair style!
Manfred, oh Manfred - what a blast from the past! Look - there's bald me (my coat had more hair than I did), Kazoom (saw her just last year at Bundy), James (dear Grandad James), Glenny (my first and bestest poetry mentor and encourager, and also my guardian angel who helped me cope with things that I didn't know I was struggling with), Pamela (hellooooo Pam), who's that tall handsome man (I don't remember him

Oh, did someone ask - what am I holding? Well, I'll tell you. The round gold one was the Alison Lingard prize for the written comp, cert for the written comp, and little round one was my 2nd for the performance comp (yes, I know, I know, I always say I don't DO performance comps, but that year I did cos it was outside, around a campfire, no microphone and the atmosphere was so relaxed and fun I 'ad a go). Got 2nd out 16 (James won thank goodness or I'd be out of Novice already).
But the excitingest thing is ... (drum roll) ... see the long stick? That's what Mannie carved for me out of a piece of firewood! That's my favouritest ever trophy. It was the "Booby" prize (cos the stick had two conveniently located bumps and my poem was about boobs, or the lack thereof)! That's what all the secrecy has been about. Bit of a let-down, huh? Doesn't matter, it was the FIRST time I had ever met any of these people, and I was just amazed that a total stranger would spend hours making something for ME. (Now Manfred is one of my friends, but he is still "stranger" than most!)
Thanks so much for digging out the photo Manfred (and the old thread in a pm). It was a great read!
Like I said, I've met many wonderful people through this forum. They have honestly added to and/or changed my life for the better.
