Things to do today!
I have posted this in another spot but thought it warrented it's own post.
So now,
Yes right now, well today at least - we all go and find a plastic crate with a clip down/water tight lid and pack an emergency box. It should contain (at least a copy of) Important paperwork
1. civil papers eg birth, death, marriage, divorce etc papers
2. the deeds of the ranch (house, unit etc. and any holiday home)
3. insurance papers (home, contents)
4. memory stick with all your digital photos and album with the important family older photos.(or copies)
5. prescription medication or at least a complete list of same (or scripts)
6. and extra special (iconic) nick nacks (or at least a list and photo of same)eg Grandma's brooch/watch etc.
7. copy of car rego and insurance papers (include trailer, caravan etc motor bikes)
8. copy of drivers licence, pension card, other ID (and any other licences)
9. trade papers or Uni qualifications.
10 and not forgetting the backup of a your computer files that include your poetry and the above list of lists.
Personally I am making two stick copies. One to keep in the box and one to hang around my neck.
So I will be busy most of the day getting the above together.
If I think of anything else I will make a re-post in green

If this was an evacuation kit I would add other things such as your mobile phone re-charger. Many people after the fires had no chargers.

Re: Things to do today!
G'day Maureen,
When I listed the backup of poetry, my intention was a whole computer backup. This would include email addresses. I have gone to the extreme of installing (via USB) an external hard drive. This is in constant backup mode. If trouble looms, I simply unplug it and pick it up from my desk and I have everything up to the minute. Only cost about $110. - well spent I say. It is compact. Would fit in most cargo pants or jacket pockets.
