The National Portrait Gallery is putting on a travelling exhibition ( 19 June to 1 Sept ) of portraits of Paul Kelly by artists and rock photographers. Images from 1970s to now.
I probably won't have time to go and have a look.

Yes I have heard it quite exceptional and a great tribute to one of Australia's greatest lyricists. I'll be going along for a squizz.

Do you have a link for that Neville or know where it will be shown?

G'day Neville,
One of my daughters gave me a book of Paul Kelly's poems for Christmas. After liking his lyrics and recorded music, I was rather disappointed in the poetry. Mostly free verse and all very short. I guess it was too 'hi brow' for my brain.

I am afraid Paul Kelly is an acquired taste, Zondrae. To me he always sounds like a bloke with great ideas for songs but just doesn't get there technically. I have tried hard to like his work but it always just falls short.

Heather. Neil. I don't know how to do links but if you google " paul kelly and portraits " you should get it. I think it is on at the Mornington Art Gallery Vic. and then other places later.

Matt, I would be happy to do his portrait at the Singleton Art Society, ........ for a modest fee of several thousand, as befitting a cultural icon

More than a cultural icon, Nev - he's a marvel is Paul Kelly . . . besides his songwriting brilliance he captained the Sydney Swans for ten years, playing over 200 games, then moved into journalism becoming one of the countries most distinguished political commentators.
I'm impressed
