Re: The beautiful Ovens Valley
God ask one question and get an essay. No wonder they jump off the bloody cliffs

The purpose in life is to have fun.

Some probably get pushed I think Bob!
Speaking of cliffs. They also climb them. Can you spot the tiny white dot in the centre of this photo? That is a man climbing this huge cliff at Mt. Buffalo. Apparently they can take up to three days, YES THREE DAYS, to climb this cliff face and sleep up there. Don't reckon I"d be getting too much sleep if it were me!
There were two of them that day - the other was a red dot.
Sorry it is such a huge photo - it was a HUGE CLIFF!

Nope, make sure you're the lead team ...
Actually the solids are stowed in plastic bags and hauled out, fluids flow free ...
Remember, climbers are in harness so number twos become a bit of a challenge ...

The best hey Marty?
One year we went from Hotham, then drove down to Bairnsdale and to Glenmaggie and then from Licola to Jamieson - so up and over and up and over again - amazing country.
For those up north, Mt. Buffalo has a chalet on top (I'll post a pic) which was really popular with honeymooners and the like. I think the railways own it or someone just as weird. Anyway the contract has run out and the place is all fenced and has been let go - it is such a shame. It was such an icon of Mt. Buffalo.

I don't swim in the ocean with sharks and they don't come on the land with me.
Bit like that and mountain climbing as well.

I think from memory the chalet was threatened by fire that same year Marty. We were there in Oct 2008. I think the fires were the summer of 2006/07. There were ghost trees everywhere - and lots of new undergrowth.
