Ancestry have a free trial on at the moment Stephen for 14 days - might be helpful. If it is a common name lots of luck

Those old common names are a pain in the proverbial - I am tracing my family and am stuck on a Mary Ann Jacklin who was born in Middlesex in 1832.. with parents named Mary Anne and George.Do you have any idea how many Mary Anne's with parents with those names were born in Middlexex/Sussex in 1832...well let me tell you they are like grains of rice on a chinamans plate. Parents in those days obviously lacked a lot in originality when it came to naming their kids...have even found the same kids name twice in one family unit when a baby has died, they tag it onto the next one that comes along.

Cheers

Maureen

Stephen strange things happen, our son in-law’s mother was a Barr from Scottish descent (around Lanark southwest of Edinburgh) and was born in the eastern Australia somewhere.
