What list Bill? Please don't tell us you too are having weather problems. I think we all need to go and sit on top of Uluru it might be the only high spot left soon.

G'day Maureen.

Well everybody has escaped.

Good news.

I think we were in denial here. We didn't lift anything up, and didn't leave while we had the chance. When the water cut us off it was too late to go then and the entire street was out half the night watching the water creeping up. When it was only one house away I just toddled off to bed. I woke up probably a dozen times during the night and reached over to touch the carpet - still dry - all good. In the morning I looked out the window - path not under water - ok. Then I looked over the side fence :o :(

I think I might have been in shock, or I really am crazy.

We actually had a flood alert here last week! there was talk of sandbagging the river and all sorts of bull....riding, we got 3mm!....Hey Maureen, I don't know if you have been to Ayres Rock or not, but believe it or not, you can't see it until you are nearly there!....I think you might be pretty safe from floods on top of it, but you would need to be there before it rained! it is Quite decieving when you see the photos of it, but it is actually in quite a hollow!

oor yeah, I forgot...it wouldn't be politically correct to climb it either!

Ross I think if I was out there Mate and it started to flood I would be that bloody terrified I would leap it in a single bound- I have never been to Uluru and certainly would not be climbing it if I was there - I knew the communities prefer you not to do so - but I am too old and unfit to even want to try.

Leonie I cannot believe that you did not pack anything :o :o :o What were you thinking - As for going to bed while the river was coming up   Bad girl, bad girl

Cheers

Maureen

Leonie mate I’m glad you could rest and be safe, perhaps you could use these lines to start a new tale
With or without a pottle of Vodka

Resting in my bed and gently sleeping
That river outside was slowly creeping

So now,
Yes right now, well today at least - we all go and find a plastic crate with a clip down/water tight lid and pack an emergency box. It should contain (at least a copy of) Important paperwork
1. civil papers eg birth, death, marriage, divorce etc papers
2. the deeds of the ranch (house, unit etc. and any holiday home)
3. insurance papers (home, contents)
4. memory stick with all your digital photos and album with the important family older photos.(or copies)
5. prescription medication or at least a complete list of same (or scripts)
6. and extra special (iconic) nick nacks (or at least a list and photo of same)eg Grandma's brooch/watch etc.
7. copy of car rego and insurance papers (include trailer, caravan etc motor bikes)
8. copy of drivers licence, pension card, other ID (and any other licences)
9. trade papers or Uni qualifications.
10 and not forgetting the backup of a your computer files that include your poetry and the above list of lists.

Personally I am making two stick copies. One to keep in the box and one to hang around my neck.
So I will be busy most of the day getting the above together.
If I think of anything else I will make a re-post in green
.. Ooops, I forgot the Passport!
