Hahahaaa, that was a fun weekend! Gee, I was a bit skinnier then! That was at Bundy, but the trophy you carved for me was before that at Beaudesert ... the "Booby Prize" for my first-ever and only performance competition! I've still got the "trophy"!

NOW I remember ... that was out at Woodhill near Beaudesert. Glennie and old James Hassan (R.I.P.) was there, and I think Ross was there too. I have a group piccie from then. I'll dig it up when I get home and post it on this thread.
Oh, and Heather, I said that was one of my MORE lucid moments ...

Yup, you're getting closer Manfred. The photo was at Bundy, under John and Sandy's house, but the trophy was at Beaudesert. James was there (Beauy). He was like my adopted Grandad - lovely man. But I didn't meet Ross, I think he went the next year. Part of the event was outside, around a campfire and part of it was at Glenny and Al's house, near their dam with the big spider on the dunny. You did your "bike into the Chernobyl swamp" poem. It was the very first poet thing I'd ever gone to and I was completely gobsmacked to see so many people who knew poems off by heart! That was also the first time I met Carol, and she was my "prompter" in case I forgot the words to my poem. We've been good mates ever since too. I've met some wonderful people through bush poetry.
Manfred, do you remember the trophy you made???
Heather - he didn't just wake up, but he certainly needed to get some sleep! But he was happy ....

Re: Have I ever said "thank you"?
... I vaguely remember finding a piece of old gum and seeing a couple of 'bell' shaped thingies in it ... and, moved by your poem I started carving a little something for you ...
Yes, Ross came the following year ...
I'll dig out those piccies after work tonight ...

Re: Have I ever said "thank you"?
Kym,
It was so nice to hear from you the other day, and all because of this forum. It has been such a long time that I have been "out of the loop" (the poetry circuit) that I have almost forgotten everyone.
But I could never forget you Kym. You are one of those special people that leave an indellible mark on people's lives.
And I mean that in the nicest possible way. I love your poetry and I appreciate your friendship. since I can't write to save myself, I appreciate the fact that I can recite your works. "Jelly Mellons" has been so well recieved, I actually got a little tired of it for a while.
Can't wait to catch up with you in person, and I can't wait to get back into the loop and meet all those poetry friends, both old and new.
Keep up the good work honey, and see you soon.
Margy.
