Job reference

Went to buy some furniture today and saw a note on the door "position available. Minimun 20 hours". Great, I thought this job has MY name on it. Just hand us your resume the nice lady in the shop said and come talk to the manager tomorrow. Eeek, I don't have a resume! Haven't needed one for 20 odd years. I know, I'll race up to my former employer and see if the old boss can knock me up a nice reference. Yes, come on in she says. I'll write it now. Now, what were your duties? I did so and so, and don't forget I was "Professional and well presented" tap tap tap at the lap top. And I had keys to the premises and the safe, did the banking, wages, petty cash, greeted clients etc etc. tap, tap tap on the lap top.
30 minutes later I had the best reference letter anyone could have written!
Got home and rang up about the job. They've got two people on trial this week. Bloody hell. They gave MY job away. The nerve. Oh well, I guess it will give me time to get a resume together!

You could attach a poem to your reference making a word picture of yourself as a valuable asset for any prospective employer. Shows initiative, creativity and lateral thinking.

You can't take on a job now Heather you are going on holiday next month - the boss would be less than pleased.

It's probably just as well Maureen. I've a book to finish and had hoped to get to the end of the year.
Bought a tub chair and picking it up today. I like those chairs, soooo, comfy.

Don't discourage her Maureen. It has taken me years to get her to think about getting a job.
20 hours a week on the ABPA web site doesn't qualify as work!
I look forward to meeting you in however many weeks it is.

Ah ha now the truth comes out. So is she pulling her weight or not Darren ? They are such high maintence creatures that they need a job to keep them up to the standard we blokes deserve. Going back to work now so hope they will have forgotten by the time I get home.
