Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
Bill the problem is that as it stands now neither member's poetry or user's poetry is even visable without registering and logging in. You wouldn't even know they exist, unless of course (like I have said before) I am missing something.
As a matter of interest what can others see without logging in? I can only see the topic titles that Maureen listed in the other thread.

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
I n answer to Leonies statement If it were open so that non registared public could place works on the forum who would like Porn or such like to be placed on there. I think both Manfred and Andy have both done a stirling job keeping it free from that element.

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
Bill I don't think anyone is suggesting that non registered users should be able to post. We would just like them to know there is more to see than what looks to be available. Personally I think anyone should be able to read all that is available, but they would have to register to post or respond to other's posts. I agree with what you said above about users being able to access and post in user's poetry but only members in members. That makes sense, but at the moment you wouldn't even know either one of them exist if you weren't already registered and logged in.
PS ... and I agree with you too about Manfred (and Andy before him) doing a good job keeping the nutters out. Just opening the forum to reading and having to register to post wouldn't change that.

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
Manfred is vetting anyone who applies to register now. They can't post until they have his approval.
Bill, I know the site says the following:
ABPA Members Poetry
ABPA members bush poetry here ...
All Forum Visitors can view but only ABPA Members can post and reply
But, my point is, that Darren is NOT an ABPA member and he CAN post replies in the members' section. He hasn't posted poetry there (you should all be SO thankful for that !
) so I can't say if he can open a new post in the members' section.
Maybe the title is left over from the old site and Manfred hasn't set it up that way. Where is he anyway? MANNIE
Therefore, my question about what constitutes a "Member" on the forum. Someone who is a paid up "Member" or someone who registers. ...

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
Heather as a matter of interest what happens if Darren tries to open a new topic in members. He wouldn't have to actually post anything to try it out I wouldn't think. It would probably just say you don't have access or something like that. If not and he can in fact post it would suggest that a member is a registered user and that would lead to another thought - what's the point of having two sections, one for users and one for members.
I guess it's still relatively early days for the forum and some things still need to be sorted out, but personally the one that bugs me the most is having some things easily accessible and others not even visible.

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
He's not home Leonie so I can't test it but when he does finally reappear I'll get him to try and see. I PROMISE it won't be poetry though.

Re: in answer to both Vic and Keats
Ok people, if you look in the Members' Poetry you will see a post from "Darren" entitled "Testing Testing Testing".
That was ME, pretending to be Darren. I signed in as Darren (now I know his password he he) and was able to POST in the members' section, despite Darren NOT being a member of ABPA.
Does that answer everyone's query?
If you are a member and wish to post in the members' section - ANYBODY can make a comment to your poem.
Pheew. I think I need a stiff drink now.
I'm a worn out moderator!

I already posted on another tread ...
Yep, I hear what you're saying. I'll be getting a bit of time towards the end of June, that will give me an opportunity to fine tune the little bugs in the Forum. Like permissions, access etc ...
Cheers,
Manfred.
