Just in case there might be any takers So nice to see the Government actively promoting the art of poetry. And $500 prize - not to be sneezed at.

Already had my say to the organisers Maureen no heats anywhere near central Queenland nearest is Barcaldine and it is mid week. I know last year they got four entries out there. The last time it was held at the village festival we had 12 entrants.

They want to keep it as a rap show I think otherwise they would spread the finals around. I found that the audience at the finals is made up of mostly uni students and friends of the big city performers.

Sour Grapes but it really does not get a good mix of poets.

I'm with you Bob, I 'droped' into two poetry slams held here in Cairns sometime ago, stayed about 10 minutes & walked out, young ones, I guess mostly uni students who think poetry has to contain absolute fowl language to get attention, sorry not my 'yuppy' cup of tea.

Some of the language at the last finals I attended was disgusting Maureen.

And the audience seemed to think it was ok.

Lost me. Bob

I had a look Maureen, I found that I couldn't understand the words, the audio-speakers seemed to distort the performers voice, and the performer gave the speech too fast for me.
