Something Inspiring

Post by Henry Snicklesnorter » Thu Nov 10, 2011 4:19 am

As an amet ...... amatu ...... bloke wot plays guitar a bit, I am really impressed with these musicians, - imagine being in a worldwide jam session! Even more that that, I find the philosophy behind it all, truly inspiring.

In a world of economic troubles, wars, disease, climate change uncertainties, floods famines etc, here is a bunch of people around the world doing something wonderful together. Gives me great hope for the human race. (I think I'm getting soft in my old age :D )

It started with a bloke named Mark Johnson, who heard a street corner musician, the late Roger Ridley in Santa Monica. He was blown away by what he heard and decided to record him, then record others around the US and then around the world, each playing along with Ridley, each in their own locations, - the back streets of Bombay, the Himalayan mountains, A Peruvian village, the Congo, etc. etc.

Almost all of the performers are complete unknowns, mostly street corner performers. Until they decided to develop the concept further, each was totally unknown to the others. Their talent individually and together is astounding. Even if the music itself is not your thing, I reckon listening to some of this would bring a smile to anyone's face. For me, it's uplifting. :D

Have a listen and see what you think.
