Hey Warooa

While on the subject of cricket, did you catch this gem in the SMH the other day?

''A little known fact,'' writes Glenda Murray, of parts unknown: ''The first testicular guard was used in cricket in 1874, and the first helmet was used in 1974. It took 100 years for men to realise that their brains could also be important.''

regards,
Ian

In those days the bowler was a gentleman who bowled at the stumps not at the batsman's head

Okay . . . why is it called a box then? (the guard . . . not the head). And in all fairness I reckon the cranium is a tad tougher than the "ahems!".

That's true.
Now tell us mate, how are things looking upwards? Have you got your helmet on standby?

The kookaburras are doing their same morning chorus, the geckos are chirping in reply (I need a helmet when they poo on my head!) That Yasi is about as big and fierce as they come - cat. 5 central pressure 924 hectopascals. We'll be right up here, get some wind and rain, but luckily for us, and Dave, it looks to be tracking slightly south more towards Innisfail. Watch bananas go up (in more ways than one). I agree with Irene, I'd be getting out of the path of this one.

Cheers, Marty
