JUST A QUERY FOR MANNIE

on the old program we had a search button where we could easily locate a poem by typing in the Authors name/and or a phrase or a title. This was also helpful usually to make sure we didn't repost anything when 'old timers' starts to set in.

Unless I am dumber than I sometimes think it doesn't seem to be on this new site???? Is their a chance it could be incorporated into it???

Cheers

Maureen

Snap - I was looking for the search button myself just this morning, and I can't find one either.

Oh, and another thing, I looked under members as well. There is usually an option if you click on a members user name that says - find all topics (or posts) by this member - but I couldn't find anything like that either.

Edited to add ... Maureen, your post (and mine) has sent me off with a song stuck in my head, ....... "We can thank our lucky stars that we're not as smart as we'd like to think we are" Tra la la.

ditto,

I had a friend who looked me up on the old site and then searched for my poetry. He had a neat list of every poem I had posted. Saved him scrolling through everyone elses looking for mine. You can select, top right hand, ' view your posts' but as for someone elses. I haven't tried yet.

G'day All

On the top right hand side, just below the header, there should be both a link and a button for search (third from the right). I have had a go at using the search feature and words like scent and eucalyptus are far too common (I searched for the title of my poem, "A Scent of Eucalyptus" that I know is on here to test this). You can search by author here (by putting in a user name or partial user name) - this seems to work OK. If you are after all posts by a member, next to search is a "members" button. Click here, find the member in the list or search for the member wanted. Click the user name and there should be an option to search users posts of the member (below the post count). Click here and all posts will be listed.

Regards

Thanks John,

Don't you just love a man with the answer. I'll give it a bash.

Also, just had a call from Bill Williams, explaining some finer points of recording to computer file.
Thanks Bill.

Well, I don't know. I'm blowed if I can find a search button. All I can see on the top right hand side is FAQ, Members and User Control Panel. Don't know what I'm doing wrong. :?

Ipswich computers must be different Leonie - that's all mine has too :geek: :geek: :?

Oh hang on - right got it - if you click on the button that says view your posts it will bring up everything you have written or responded to and then if you type in something pertinent to your search like eg Fernando it will take you to the posting with that word in it. COOL

Thanks John and Mannie :D :D - See Leonie - aren't men wonderful??? And to think for all all these years I have been saying they are only good for chasing mice and changing light bulbs.
