Warning 'SCAMMERS'

Just a quick warning There are people pretending to be from Microsoft, or been contracted by them to fix problems with window users (aren't we all) sometimes they portray themselves as being from Microsoft support. The idea is to get access to your computer and place a bug there and if they succeed you're in big trouble. I have had two calls in the last week or so, the calls came from Asia somewhere.
Last year 'Consumer Protection & the Police put out a warning about this scam so beware.
Heather maybe able to give you a more give you a better summation than I have as she has had first had experience with this as well.
Regards Terry

Yes, I've been having multiple calls a day from this crowd and they are very brazen. One man I told to hang on the line because I was having the call traced by the Federal Police and he tried to tell me "Oh no Mam, this is not a scam" (only with an Indian accent of course).
I don't even bother talking to them now. If I hear a delay on the phone I know it is an overseas call and hang up straight away. They keep trying though.
My husband is an IT man and apparently if they get into your computer you can be in all sorts of bother. I think they tell you you have a virus and they need access to your computer remotely to fix it. They had access to one of a client's computers for 3 hours. He told him to change banking passwords etc This is my basic knowledge of what they get up to.
There is a web site called "Hoax slayer" - I will look up the link and post it. On there you can check if sus emails are hoaxes. The one doing the rounds at the moment is about a spider bite.

Ok, I've done a little googling and found the following.
Hoax slayer is for email hoaxes.

There is plenty of information about the Microsoft scam if you google "microsoft scam".
But here are a couple of links that might provide useful info - I found them googling so if these don't work just google it.

I say I don't have a computer.. that stops them dead.
Or If you all say you are running a Mac that will really put a spanner in their works.

I have a program I have developed that will stop all this spamming and scamming. Just send 250 bucks to my Nigerian bank account, along with your credit card details, and one of my representatives will contact you shortly.
