This is just to inform the folk who knew Cas, that after a long running battle with a Leukemia related illness, he passed away on 1/10/2011 at 4.30am.

Regards
Helen van Loon.

Likewise from Me,

I had the pleasure of hearing Cas read from his travelogue style poetry on several occasions at Illawarra Folk Festival. His descriptions of our beautiful country demonstrated his love for his chosen Land. I used to close my eyes and let myself be swept along by his words. I had noticed and missed his presence the past few years at our festival. I am sad to hear of his passing.

Yes you are right Zondrae, Cas had a rambling style that suited the descriptive nature of this country.

Manfred please pass on our condolences.

Bob

Hi Manfred,
Please pass on mine as well.
I never knew Cas in person, but knew him through his poetry posted on this site.
He was already a member when I first joined the forum.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Cas Van Loon. I first met Cas at a Jamberoo Folk Festival and we shared many stages over the following years. Although not born in this country I think Cas was probably the most patriotic Australian I have ever met. His love for this country was boundless and he tried to convey that love through his poetry. We are all the very much poorer for his passing.

So sorry to hear this sad news . may the vistas that Cas now sees be as beautiful as the ones he described here on earth.
Cas had the eye of an artist I think is descriptions were always so clear. Condolences to the family

Stay strong

Maureen

I've been away and have only just seen this. I'm very sad to hear of Cas' passing. All that time he was ill he kept sharing his descriptive poems with us. RIP old mate.

Í'm saddened to hear of Cass' passing. He had a great passion for bush verse and this country. Until the trumpet sounds mate, rest in peace.
