Hi All -

As you know, the parameters of the Ipswich Poetry Feast were quite different this year, with all forms and genres of verse being judged against one another in the open sections. There was no dedicated class for traditional or bush verse as there as been in previous years.

The overall winner was a prose poem, essentially a block of unstructured free verse which relies on vivid imagery and typically has very little or no punctuation. Our well-known bush poet Robyn Sykes took out second with a sonnet - lovely to see rhyming verse in the top three! Our friend David Campbell was third with a powerful free verse poem. Two of the three HCs were also well-written free verse, and bush poet Derek (Doc) Bland received a HC for a traditional rhyming poem.

Here are the results of the adult classes. Full details including the winning and shortlisted entries may be read on the Ipswich Poetry Feast Website here: https://www.ipswichpoetryfeast.com.au/w ... n-winners/
