We have all had a go at times Terry. not sure if I have posted this before could not find it.

THE NEXT DAY OF MY LIFE

Morning ,and nights sweet afterglow
heralds the coming dawn,
light wisps of fog hang softly
in the heavy sullen air.

The stars seem so much clearer now
as their bright orbs adorn the sky
almost if placed by some
tragic artists hand.

Slowly the night fades away
daylight repels the dark.
The first sweet sounds appear
as life makes its presence felt.

Oh to hold this one moment in time
when all things seem at peace,
cherish and caress that sweet joy
close to one's heart and soul.

The dawn breaks and the moment is lost
gone into that bottomless pit of time.
The noise of living pervades the air
and so quickly it is gone.

Fear not for as sure as time itself
tomorrow will bring it's own sweet joy
when once again I see the dawning
of the next day of my life.

Another secret non-rhymer is outed! You really are a surprise sometimes, Bob. I kinda like this.

Bob, that's what I would read as blank verse couplets in slightly variable metre. A bit different from free verse but extant in published contemporary verse that I read.

I like this Bob-very much.
Reading the poetry here on the forum gives us some insight into the author I believe-this shows me you have a much softer side Bob :)

Cheers
Sue

G/day Bob

It seems pretty good to me as well.
You have managed to get the feeling into your poem without an over use of words.

But what would I know Mate.

Some beautiful imagery and choice of words here Bob - it's lovely and you have really 'taken me there'. I think we've all felt like this at such times, and in this respect these lines are so true:

'The dawn breaks and the moment is lost
gone into that bottomless pit of time'.

But I also really like the final stanza in which you end on such a positive note for the dawning of a new day.
