Most Important

....and another old one that has not been posted here. I perform this one so it should be on the site.

Most Important.
© Zondrae King (04/04) Corrimal NSW

I’m the most important person in Australia
But you’d never really guess it by the pay.
From the chairman of the board to the lass who sweeps the floor.
They all visit my department every day.

Heavy industry and schools can’t run without me.
Both Professionals and Tradesmen there’s no doubt.
If I fail to perform and to keep all systems norm
Then the Unions would declare “Right we’re all out”.

The Prime Minister knows he can’t really trust me
So he always checks before he takes his seat.
In corridors of power, I am needed every hour
And for clout, I’ve got the opposition beat.

When the Queen came for a visit to this country
The chief of protocol called me on the phone
He asked me to obtain an extra length of golden chain
And the finest quilted softness for the throne.

Some professions find they have a busy season
Ski instructors, lifeguards, shearers earn their dough
But I still must do my thing Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring
They rely on me to keep the status quo.

Now, the captain of Australia’s first eleven
Called me from the Wacca * just the other day
They needed me it seems, to give assistance with the teams
Otherwise all twenty two refuse to play.

Everyone of you, you know, will surely know me
Not by name so much, but more by what I do
If I don’t do my bit there’d be discomfort where you sit
I’m the one who puts the paper in the loo.

*note: this can be Sri anka or India or where ever is appropriate.

Very true Zondrae. I went to use a loo in an Asian country and there was no paper, just a length of hose attached to a tap. I decided to hang on till I could get back to the hotel.

G'day Neville,

In Malaysia some enterprising folk make a business of standing outside the ladies loos and selling little packets of tissues. And I won't even begin to discuss the joys of the squat toilet.
