Lorikeets
The eucalypts are out in flower and lorikeets
In brilliant colours decorate the trees like sweets,
All wrapped in festive feathered coats they twirl and flash
As from each flower to flower like harlequins they dash.
The tree crowns set with jewels that shimmer as they sate
Their appetites with nectar as they pollinate;
Giant multicoloured bees, all day they screech and sing,
Until at setting sun, in clouds of colour, they take wing.
