Wandjina

Post by Zondrae » Fri Jun 01, 2012 12:09 pm

G'day everyone. As Maureen has posted a poem on this topic and I haven't posted anything for a while. I hope she doesn't mind me posting mine. It is illustrated with an image of a Wandjina from the cave paintings in WA but I couldn't get the picture to upload.

Wandjina

Wandjina, painted by hand on a hill
partially hidden, a secret until
found by explorers who stumbled into
sacred locations known only by few.

Who were the painters and where did they go
leaving the image of beings aglow?
Wandjina painted by hand on the rock
was it a message to warn or to shock.

Could you have been out exploring in space
looking for shelter for those of your race.
Were you like us unaware of the risk
until your sun was an engulfing disc.

Wandjina, visiting us from afar,
came from a planet that’s not of our star.
Were you sent out on a mission to save?
Sent into space an explorer so brave?

Were you a victim of weather extremes
looking for safety, a place of your dreams ?
Was it an ‘Eden’ you needed again.
Fresh air and water to ease all your pain.?

Then did you come, to this new galaxy
mingling blood to make people like me?
Where you are painted, could that be your grave?
Are we the children you came here to save?

That is beautiful Zondrae - they do look like like Astronauts or I have always thought so, and as a firm believer in Erich Von Danikens story of creation (since reading over 40 years ago The Chariots of the Gods) rather than the biblical one I have no problem with that theory at all - who will ever really know. It is a wonderful belief to have, some would say overly simplistic but what is wrong with that - life these days is far to full of technicalities.

Love your Poem Zondrae - thank you for sharing it.

Cheers

Maureen

I may not always succeed in making a difference, but I will go to my grave knowing I at least tried.
