One of the great shames of the modern political era is that Peter Costello, after the 2007 pantsing of the coalition, took his bat and ball and refused to play anymore.

Denying us (and salivating sub-eds) the opportunity to be governed by Abbott and Costello

Enjoyed your poem Dennis, you've got a knack, mate ;) - you've got us not only discussing your poem . . . but discussing how we go about discussing it.

Yes I was hoping for that as well - maybe that's why he left - a hard act to follow.

Also I think he would have wanted Costello and Abbott - thanks.

G'day Matt, maybe we should rename the Prime Minister " Dorothy " :o

Now there's a thought for some poetic satire.

Bugger the technical bits.

It's the story. The empathy to the story. The feelings and or the sensations they invoke.
That's what I want to feel.
If they can be contrived, along with the technical bits - good stuff.

Technicalities are for competitions and the purists.

Well, that's what I think !!!!!

Great read, Dennis, and sparks controversy and constructive arguement. That to me pretty well covers why we write. Politics is never out of bounds or else what would be the point of freedom of speech. As mentioned, has people thinking and commenting. Great stuff.

Cheers

Yes we still have freedom of expression with regard to politics, so why not make

use of it. Thanks Neil and Jim
