IF WARRIORS WERE WORRIERS
© John Peel 12/2/2013

If warriors were worriers, then who would save the day?
If worriers were warriors, would bad thoughts go away?
When worriers are worriers, they worry that’s for sure,
but when warriors are warriors, they go and fight a war!

Warriors and worriers - there is a place for each,
For who'd alert the warriors, relaxing on the beach,
Without the troubled worriers, suspecting things aren't right,
Before the rest have twigged that there's a need to stand and fight.

Worriers and warriors. I do applaud each type.
It's often good to settle, but there's times when it is ripe
To rouse the drowsy warriors, and set them on their steeds;
It's often just the worrier who early warning heeds.

So drink a toast to worriers, who shrink inside their shell,
And drink a toast to warriors, who gallop into hell.
It takes all sorts to make a world. There's balance, safe and sure,
In having warriors, and worriers, to wage a war!

G'day Vic

It is one of the funny things about the English language, a couple of minor changes in spelling and you have two words with entirely different meanings.

G'day Stephen

I enjoyed your entertaining response

Goodonya Peely.
Valentine's Day is remembered in the US as a day of the infamous Slaughter on Tenth Avenue. Take one letter away and you get Laughter on Tenth Avenue.
Different pronunciation, different meaning altogether.

There's probably quite a few useful examples of this oddity in English, good for a bit of poetic fun, as you have done.
