Singing Love Songs to My Cows

SINGING LOVE SONGS TO MY COWS
© John Peel 14/7/2013

I’m just a simple country lad, I live here on my farm,
I’ve never once seen turmoil, all my days are cool and calm.
I should have myself a woman and be talking wedding vows –
but I’m out here singing love songs to my cows.
Singing love songs to my cows where I’m away from Mum and Dad,
my cows are there to listen, they don’t think my singing’s bad.
I sing about the day I find the love I’ve never had,
while I’m out here singing love songs to my cows.

Right now my life’s a lonely one, I’m not sure what to do
or where I need to go to turn this single to a two.
It’s enough to make too many rows of furrows in my brows –
I’m out here singing love songs to my cows.
Singing love songs to my cows, but now I’m putting up a fight
to find the woman that can help to end my lonely plight.
But while I wait, if someone saw, I’d look a sorry sight
while I’m out here singing love songs to my cows

If only I could find that girl who loves the country life,
I’d hope that she’d agree that she should one day be my wife.
While I’m looking for the answers to the whys and whens and hows –
I’m out here singing love songs to my cows.
Singing love songs to my cows and wishing soon I’ll see the day
this woman that I dream about will somehow come my way,
but when that time might be is very hard for me to say –
so I’m out here singing love songs to my cows.

And once the day has come that I have ended all this strife –
I’ll be out here singing love songs to my wife.

Thank you Maureen,

I'm glad you enjoyed it. When I put I put it up on Facebook, I joked that it could be the new theme song for "The Farmer Wants a Wife".

In many ways, I would be a good fit for the show:

I'm mid thirties
I'm single
I have access to a family farm (some of the previous participants didn't actually live on the farm that featured on the show and had jobs in 'town')
I have a bit of a sensitive streak in me (hey, I write poetry  )

I'm not sure if I would like my love life played out on TV though.

Regards

John Peel

G'day Neville

I live in town these days, no more love songs for the cows  (they used to hear me practising my poems a bit though).

Regards

Hey Johnno this is something we sang in primary school about (big number) years ago,

It might help. :P

TTFN 8-)

Sang as a rounder

The farmer in the dell
The farmer in the dell
Heigh-ho, the derry-o
The farmer in the dell
The farmer takes a wife (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The wife takes a child (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The child takes the cow (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The cow takes the pig (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The pig takes the dog (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The dog takes the cat (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The cat takes the mouse (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The mouse takes the cheese (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
The cheese stands alone (2x)
Heigh-ho, the derry-o . . .
I Keep Trying

G'day Dave

I remember singing that one in pre-school and in the infants part of primary school too

Why is it that the poor old cheese has to miss out on the cracker biscuits, the bread, the fruit platter, the wine or the port? All things that go very well with cheese

Wives are attracted to cows though by the sound of it, it might be worth a shot.

Regards
