A Little Less Good Looking

A LITTLE LESS GOOD LOOKING
© John Peel 13/12/2013

Well my hair is falling out, so are my teeth –
I'm still the same great person underneath.
My hair that's left is slowly turning grey,
I get a little less good looking every day.

I get a little less good looking and I find
my better days are being left behind.
But things don’t seem to change in any way –
I get a little less good looking every day.

Well the weight is piling on, I'm getting fat –
instead of fighting fit, I’m feeling flat.
The mirror has a sorry tale to say –
I get a little less good looking every day.

I get a little less good looking and I find
my better days are being left behind.
But things don’t seem to change in any way –
I get a little less good looking every day.

Well my skin is wrinkling up, my back is bent –
my looks have gone, I’m not sure where they went.
I really don’t know why they’ve gone astray –
I get a little less good looking every day.

My sight is failing, nothing works like new –
I can only hope your sight is failing too.
If not, I guess you won’t be here to stay –
I get a little less good looking every day.

I get a little less good looking and I find
my better days are being left behind.
But things don’t seem to change in any way –
I get a little less good looking every day.
A little less good looking every day.

Got to have a talk to you sometime about your self esteem John . ;) ;) ;) ;)

Many a good tune gets played on an old worn fiddle mate so long as the strings are not broken !

Cheers OLD bob

That's funny John. It's all about attitude - the imperfections just make you more "interesting". :)

Don't worry - be happy - you haven't got a monopoly on it    It's the beauty inside that matters anyway ;)

Is that intended as song lyrics Peely. The last verse as the refrain ?

Have you done a tune for it ? We know you're a keen vocalist :)

Maybe he's just wistful, Neville - his voice trailing off in despair!

G'day Bob

Perhaps things aren't as bad as the words make out, I'm a poet - I have been known to embellish things a little. Besides, I thought it would be more fun to take the negative point of view.

Thank you Heather

I'm sure I have plenty of years ahead to work at becoming 'interesting' (Maybe I already am) :)

Hi Maureen

I wonder how beautiful my autopsy will say that I am when I go - a side that not many will get to see. I can only hope that some might actually see if I have some inner beauty that really matters :)

G'day Neville

I have written it as a song lyric. It would probably work with a blues/country tune. I was playing around this morning singing it with a blues tune - whether or not my tune would sound any good, I'm not sure on that. I might be better off leaving the tune to a proper musician.

Regards

No doubt Heather, John will give it a run at Tamworth, if only at the church hall. Plenty of time to practice and get it up to performance level. :) Might make a change from Elvis ;)

I can see the autopsy report now, "He had beautiful lungs!"

Don't worry Peely, it's true they say that beauty is only skin-deep . . .

but ugly - that goes right to the bone
