Imagine the Embarassment

Post by Irene » Wed Jan 08, 2014 3:47 am

Haven't written anything much last year, but did this one for the poets brawl (1 min) at the WA State Championships in Toodyay.
The topic was the title "Imagine the embarrassment"

Imagine the Embarrassment
© Irene Conner 03.11.13

Imagine the embarrassment if everybody knew
those deepest, darkest secrets you have hidden within you.
Imagine if they knew about that clumsy first embrace:
you tried to kiss a sweet young girl – completely missed her face.

Remember when you climbed a fence one hot day at the zoo,
and split your seam from front to back with everything on view?
Or when you joined the queue at Coles and saw a long-time friend –
that ‘slap and tickle’ that you gave was on the wrong rear end!

The night of that disastrous date – your heart was in a whirl;
that ‘chat room’ guy you thought you loved turned out to be a girl;
the day you introduced to Mum a girl you thought was cute –
then found she was a pole dancer of dubious repute.

Now you can laugh and think you’re safe – you’d never tell your kids
those deepest, darkest secrets that you wouldn’t share for quids.
But just remember, when you’re old, your kids will soon record
the secrets that are shared upon the locked dementia ward!
What goes around, comes around.

Nice one Irene - I think those secrets might slip out prior to the dementia ward though :lol:

very good Irene - much embarrassment there . . but dating a pole dancer :shock: I think more blokes'd be bragging to their mates than keeping that one secret :D

Lot's of fun are the one minute comps.

Cheers, Marty

Hi Irene,
I can still visualize you asking around the Toodyay caravan park for embarrassing moment ideas within a couple of hours of the event - good one Irene.

Cheers Terry
