A Parliamentary Pickle

We have become a nation where the media runs supreme;
They tear a reputation down, they build another’s dream;
With endless doors revolving, now our headship is a corps
Of bloody, ruthless power games, with Cabinet leaks and gore.

It doesn’t matter whether Malcolm is the man we need;
The point is that some won’t forgive the way he did the deed.
He’s shattered long-time loyalty and worn the patience thin
Of those who voted ‘Liberal’ to escape the Labor din.

Our masters are the wretched servants of opinion polls;
They’ll fight to win their favour ‘til they’ve dug too many holes;
And when it comes to leadership, one size does not fit all;
Our Malcolm thinks he’ll do it – well, he’s famous for his gall.

He’s charged in with his centrist views and claims of ‘broad appeal’.
I’ve got one thing to ask to all: are changes here for real?
He’s ‘bought’ the old conservatives with superficial bribes
While praising Tony Abbot with some thinly-veiled jibes.

When greed displaces loyalty, MPs will take their turn
Inside revolving doors of leaders, steadfast values burn;
Participants must battle, each to give themselves a chance
To traipse around in circles in a parliamentary dance.

So was this Abbot ousting beneficial for our land?
The point of it defeats me and that’s where I’ll take my stand;
I’ll scoff if this betrayal wins more voters than it loses;
The PM ought to be the one that our Australia chooses.

You know Brendan for a young bloke you write with great maturity and a good working knowledge of the English language, I can't tell you how good that is to see.

I'd lay odds that you are not one of those numpties who use 'be like' and 'like' in their sloppy speech patterns and inane conversations that one is subjected too all the time in the cities. It is a delight to read your work mate. You do your parents and the country proud and it would seem that you have also taken full advantage of the education offered to you. I predict you will go a long way in life and more power to you. We need more young ones of your stamp in this country.
