Surprise!

What a great surprise!
Had an out of the blue phone call to tell me to get myself up to the Diggers Rest (a local nursing home) on Friday at lunchtime.
They were celebrating Aged Care Week. (I think) Illawarra Breakfast Poets entertain there about three times a year and as it was one of the IBP who called = I snapped to it. To my surprise one of our brothers was just about to take the microphone..
But first some old lady came on and muttered some verse about an 'I said, She Said,' conversation she had with her friend.
Yes the former australian Champion reciter Greg North was there. He did a good 40 minutes before lunch was served. I took the opportunity to have a chat with him. I did most of the talking while he ate.
He is a great bloke and it was soon time for him to go on again. I had to leave. I was so surprised at seeing him that I forgot to congratulate him for his recent 2nd place in the Broken Ski Awards.
Well done Greg and the old folk loved him too.
