Another poem written for the Illawarra Breakfast Poets' weekly topic of the same name as the poem's title. Thought that I would have a play a round with this and I seem to have created some song lyrics - if only I had the musical skills to put a decent tune to them!
I CAN’T SAY, “NO!”
© John Peel 23/8/2010
She looks at me with longing eyes –
it seems I can’t say, “No!”
Her pretty face
makes my heart race,
she breaks me with a smile.
I see her there,
she flicks her hair –
I really like her style.
I try hard but I can’t disguise
that I just can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
For if I want this love to grow,
I can’t say, “No!”
Her warmth could melt the coldest heart –
it seems I can’t say, “No!”
The very chance
of true romance
is why I feel this way.
The way she walks,
the way she talks –
I don’t know what to say.
I really want to make a start,
so I just can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
For if I want this love to grow,
I can’t say, “No!”
Her touch brings tingles to my skin –
it seems I can’t say, “No!”
I often find
she blows my mind
with things that she can do.
Where this might go
I just don’t know –
I only wish I knew.
She’s also beautiful within
and I just can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
For if I want this love to grow,
I can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
I can’t say, “No!”
For if I want this love to grow,
I can’t say, “No!”

I kept thinking that at the end of this you were going to tell us you were talking about a cow!

Re: I Can't Say, "No!"
G'day Stephen and Maureen
Here's the other verse
My lovely cow called Mirabelle -
it seems I can't say, "No!"
She chews her cud
and walks through mud,
she fills my pail with milk.
On top of that,
she likes a pat -
her coat is smooth as silk.
She's very fat, she eats quite well
because I can't say, "No!"
Regards
