I agree Bob,

However we will have to talk to her about those 'horse' poems.

Sorry Bob, I didn't know they had to be new ones.
Zondrae, are you impressed that I wrote a poem that didn't even mention a horse???

Seventeen poems and a half If we count Kyms first one and two from dave not a bad effort.

If it got everyone thinking poetry it was worth it.

My grandfather sat me on his knee and this is what he said. Words once said may never be retracted no matter how much you apologize and I never thought much about it until one day someone said something to me that hurt and then the lesson came home

He was a very wise man that grandfather in the poem thank Kym

All us grandads are pretty wise Bill.

The problem is we finally get to know all the answers and no one asks us the questions.

Aaah Kymmie . . . I'm with Dave, I first heard your poem 'Nails in the Mango Tree' on the ABC and it's one of those poems that really resonated with me. Just a brilliant piece of work.

Thanks gu... I mean ...blokes.

And warooa - it's good to see you wearing some clothes! I think I was one of the (lucky?) few who saw your shell outfit. It's one of those images that has been burned onto my brain like a tattoo and even psyciatric help won't erase it.

Just read Vals poem again - it is so disturbing but then that was the aim of it....tragic to think that in this day and age of supposed enlightenment the world allows this to happens. Is there an answer? One would like to think so, but in view of how this type of inhumanity and madness seems to resurface time and time again across different parts of the world one suspects that the answer is - no there is not.

We are truly blessed here in Australia that we live in a country where peace reigns - I personally doubt I would have the guts to live in these countries where every day is a battle for survival of the lowest form imaginable.

Good writing Val -very hard hitting IMO. I do hope the little one in Darfur is doing cartwheels, but how I wish she were doing them here.

Cheers

Maureen

and,

Just to have the record straight.. I have written two other poems, that I did not post, and also begun a complete catelogue of all the poems I have written (and kept). Not in alphaetical order though. I'm about to go to see my son in law and ask all those little IT questions I have been saving up. All since 'National Post a Poem Week' was declared.

.. And I'm delighted to see, Kym is not taking offence. You know I am only joking about the horses....
