Have We Lost Site Visitors?
Re: Have We Lost Site Visitors?
What amazes me is how we went from site visitors to krill! Something fishy there...

No there's not Heather it's all to do with baiting a line and reeling the little suckers in - oh I guess that is a bit fishy

Re: Have We Lost Site Visitors?
If I can take the conversation back to the original track.......
I believe that the forum should be open to all browsers - there is nothing really to indicate that there is a whole lot more to the forum than what a guest can see, and consequently, many would be reluctant to register.
I am a long time member of Ric's bushverse site, and it has always been open to guests for browsing. You can go to that site at any time of the day, and there are upward of 50 guests browsing the site. By comparison, most times when I am on this site, there are often only a couple of people on the site.
As a registered member of the bushverse site, I am also able to click and see who is online, and what they are viewing, and believe me, they go right back to the old poetry and keep on reading, and reading, and reading!!!!!
While I don't have time to browse back, I often look at who's online, check out what they are reading, and click on that to re-read - it brings up some wonderful poems that I have long forgotten!! For example, I recently commented on a poem that one of the members wrote back in 2007!! I had either missed it originally, or forgotten it.
I would like to see that opportunity be available to browsers for our site as I believe Terry is correct in saying that our number of browsers have dropped - and I believe it is directly due to not being able to freely browse without being registered.
This site is much more active at the moment in terms of new posts, but the other one is more active in terms of visitors, and people reading the posts. Perhaps we need to look at why, and whether we can increase those numbers by opening the forum up more.

Great comments, Thank You ... This Forum is due for a Security Upgrade. In working through the logistics of the upgrade, I find there are a couple of 'iffy' areas that I'm reluctant to play with. Most likely, we may solicit some professional help in this regard.
The Forum (not the main website) may be down for about a day for implementation and testing this upgrade before going 'live' again. We will give plenty of notice.
... and yes, we'll look at opening it up for 'browsers' ...

HI all,
I think another thing to remember, is that we have some wonderful poems posted here in a variety of themes and rhyming patterns, from a number of different writers who cover a wide range settings and ideas that in the past attracted thousands of hits, there is something for everyone who likes our style of poetry. When you stop to think about it, for a writer of any description what could be rewarding than having your work read by so many people, not to mention the great exposure for the ABPA
