Interview on ABC Radio 774
Comedian Dave O'Neil is interviewing me tomorrow afternoon at 1.20pm on ABC Radio 774 about my new collection of poetry for children, "'The Billy That Died With Its Boots On' and Other Australian Verse. Very exciting!

Sorry Dr Whiteside, I hope that didn't come across the wrong way, saying I wanted to hear it purely for Dave O'Neil being a funny bloke - obviously it'd be great to hear about you and your great book on the wireless.
I've got ABC radio on my computer right now - whether it is 774 or not I'm not sure. They do have access to listen online but something about apps. I'll give it a crack if I'm home tomorrow arvo and see if I can get it. Would love to hear Dave . . .oops, Stephen
on the radio

Such commitment, Heather! Very touching.
No, of course I didn't take any offence, Marty. Thanks for your interest.

Re: Interview on ABC Radio 774
G'day Stephen,
Sorry but our of our range.
I would have listened in spite of recently been usurped as the local 'ABC Resident Poet'. But as it is by a member of the Illawarra Breakfast Poets, Ralph Scrivens --- who has recently been awarded the Reciting Championship of both New South Wales and Queensland, I am not upset. He is a far better reciter than I am and certainly has the voice for radio. Good on you Ralph.

Great interview Stephen! You managed to get a plug in for just about everything - the ABPA, the Toolangi festival, the Singing Gardens, the C.J. Dennis association, your son and daughter, Jan Williams and of course C.J. Dennis. Well done. I thought your book got side-lined a bit though which was a bit disappointing.
I'll let you tell everyone about the lady who rang in - that was pretty exciting.

Thanks, Heather. Yes, the book did get a bit forgotten. My fault I suppose, but it's very hard to control an interview like that. You more or less have to go where it takes you. It can look very graceless if you try to do a ninety degree turn in the middle.
