Homework 16/8/21 'Raining Gold'

Post by Terry » Fri Jul 30, 2021 5:23 pm

It's been raining non stop for the last month here

RAINING GOLD

The floods have breached the Torbay Creek,
the kitchens ankle deep.
And fears are held by one and all,
for half our flamen sheep.
We’ve spent the whole week fencing too,
and most has washed away.
but Aussie girls in Tokyo,
have brightened up our day.

The wife is in a cranky mood,
and boy have we been told.
Thank God the girls have brought a smile,
while reaching out for gold
The rain is tumbling down outside
and adding to our plight.
The only good news we have heard,
is more gold’s now in sight.

The cows are jumping fences now,
the few that are still there.
And Dino’s got a taste here of,
the culture we now share.
Star power's always here old mate,
it’s flamen work we hate
But mothers got her dander up,
God help us if we’re late

And life is not worth living here,
for there is no escape.
When mother cracks the bloom’en whip,
you’d better breast the tape.
The world maybe united now,
and peace may rule somewhere.
But flooded kitchens bring no joy,
for blokes out here to share.

Great yarn Terry, and very good use of the prompts. Who better to write about chasing gold than an old prospector!
Sounds like a bit of Murphy's law there with all the wet weather!
And Mum and a flooded kitchen! not a good mix! :o
Cheers mate

Thanks Ron

I thought I'd try to weave the prompts into a sort of rhyming yarn,
but still have it refer to the Olympics.
A bit of fun - but the rain is real enough - it's non stop.

Cheers

Good one Terry - I hope the flooded kitchen is poetic licence for the sake of the poem, if not I sympathise with you both as that would be a major pain. Hope you see some sunshine soon - and great use of the prompts as well.

G/day and thanks Maureen

No we didn't get the Kitchen flooded but plenty of others did or worse.
It rained almost every day in July including 18 days straight at one stage.
But it lent itself to somehow use the prompts and also refer to the Olympic's.

Thanks Catherine

Just a bit of fun again and after the last month, a lot of poor devils over here need a bit of cheering up.

Cheers

Thanks Shelley

The rain has stopped at last, for awhile - thank God.
It was so wet, cold and miserable that a bit of humor seemed to be in order.

Cheers
