Dogs are very expensive when they get sick!
Every dog owner should be a vet!

Totally agree with every comment made here but the one missing is that dogs are the only true love than money can buy.

Indeed they are Manfred. My little pooch is starting to feel a bit better. She now has a condition called "dry eye" and doesn't produce enough tears so is getting awful conjunctivitious and needs "tear replacement drops" and antibiotic cream that costs about $86 for 10 grams. The other one comes and gets on the bed with me each morning if she gets half a chance and we cuddle up together. She will sleep for hours like that. Love them.
HOw is Mahalia progressing Maureen?
Bob, they are lovely. You've gone to a lot of trouble to find all those sayings haven't you?

Re: Some for Maureen
She is doing fine as far as wound healing goes but she is I am sure suffering from depression. She is disinterested in trying to use the leg any more than she has to. Will get up to go toilet and then wants to lie back down again - not even interested in a little walk outside, and of course I can't force her. Common sense tells me she is in discomfort if not actually bad pain. I feel lousy because I now wonder did I make the right decision or not. The vet has said she is an older dog with a few strikes against her so it is going to take her a bit longer to bounce back and I get that, but I am sure she thinks she is being punished by being kept under the house, even though I check on her every 30 minutes or so...and she is getting heaps of pats and cuddles and kisses..I get her outside under the back pergola for about 5 hours a day where she can see the birds flying and the trees moving and whatever the neighbours are doing.she was desperate to come upstairs when we got thunder the other day but she can't even manage the first step and I certainly can't lift her.
How do you explain all of these things to an animal???? How do you get them to understand that they are going to get better and that we are not going to give up and that they have to try just that little bit harder, when they have had a life filled with hurt and pain and you have now inflicted even more. I just try to connect with her through my hands and my eyes and my heart, and hope she is getting the love vibes.

Re: Some for Maureen
Heather I spent hours and hours going from one site to another finding all these just because I knew Maureen would like them.
What am I saying I found them all on one site and on one page just did a copy and paste !!!
The first one sounded better but it's the thought that counts.
She will let you know when she is feeling better Maureen. Do you have a low or high blocked house is it possible to put up some type of ramp ?
Bob

Re: Some for Maureen
No Bob its very high set 13 steps - I started her yesterday on Sasha's blend and to be honest I am perhaps hoping for a miracle. Maybe??????? I just might be getting one. Not ten minutes ago she walked with a little stern coaxing just to the end of the road - 5 houses - and back and thought she might have a go at a Maltese on the way which involved me having to exert quite a bit of pressure to hold her back.
Interesting thing for anyone who might be interested the vet quoted me $68 for 250 gram (that is getting expensive on a pension because her other tablets are costing over $35 a week)...I bought it on line for $35 and I also save about $40 buying their Frontline flea treatment through the same company - delivered to my door two working days after placing the order. The company is Vet Products Direct and they have everything for every animal from fish to horses, apart from prescription only drugs..
